Banking services are provided through a branch in San Francisco, CA which is located in an eligible census tract, classified by high distress, and gives MNB a pulse on its target market. MNB provides business checking, business lending and personal banking services to underserved groups in the Mission District and surrounding neighborhoods in the San Francisco Bay Area, including minority owned small businesses and niche retailers. MNB has been awarded the Bank Enterprise Award (BEA) in 2016, 2017 and 2018 by the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund and has earned a 5-Star Rating from Bauer Financial for September 2018. Community ValuesMNB is a mission-oriented bank, and for over 30 years, we have been serving the great diversity of the Bay Area region and pride ourselves for being accessible to our customers. Our vision is to promote economic growth and stability in the underserved communities we serve by providing high-quality business and consumer financial services. Our mission is to maintain and grow a personal-service oriented community bank that improves the economic conditions of our underserved communities while generating a sustainable and rising profit level for our shareholders. Forming relationships in our local community is our foundation. We are part of a small, but important subset of U.S. banks. MNB is a certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), Minority Depository Institution (MDI), and banking industry designed Community Development Banking Institution (CDBI), and we provide a range of financial products and services that benefit low-and moderate-income (LMI) communities, businesses, and individuals. Over 90% of MNB’s customers are first and second generation immigrants. We work with these clients by providing specific programs for several key industries that they can enter and create a successful business that helps to support their families. We have staff that are multi-lingual. We understand language is the number one barrier to having affordable access to credit and we are bridging that gap by facilitating communication in several languages. To further service our community and augment revenue streams and drive quality organic growth, MNB will continue to leverage its CDFI status and apply for technical and financial assistance awards to help us sustain and expand our services. MNB has a wide variety of consumer and commercial loans products. The primary loan product is commercial loans and the niche is in serving first and second generation immigrants. This niche results in a focus on lending activity on commercial real estate and business loans. In having a primary mission of serving underserved markets, the niche is also serving the following industries: gas stations and convenience stores, hotels and motels, multi-family and single room occupancy, and residential care homes. The vast majority of the portfolio is in commercial loans (which includes commercial real estate) and the majority of these loans are made to small businesses.
